Many of us will remember it like the day before yesterday. The epic 2021 denouement in Abu Dhabi was an intense moment. Both for those at home, but even more so for the Red Bull team. The moment Verstappen drove across the finish line there was an immediate shout in his ear: ''OH MY LORD, MAX!'' It was long thought that it was Alexander Albon who said this to Verstappen. Meanwhile, the person responsible stepped forward ...

In the video: Max Verstappen's Journey To Becoming a Three-Time F1 Champion on the Youtube channel of Red Bull Racing is the first to look back on the Dutchman's first world title. ' 'I think from corner nine I knew it was in,' ' Verstappen says. Race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase felt the tension building: ''You just noticed that the whole season would be determined on literally the last lap.'' He continues: ''I knew deep down that with his much better tyres Verstappen would not give up that chance for anything or anyone.''

''Oh my lord, Max!''

Lambiase no longer knew how to contain himself: ' 'I like to say that on the radio and in my communication with Max I am quite calm and rational. But I must admit that I was shouting over the radio to Max, and so not Alexander Albon.'' Max adds to him, saying: ''To be able to celebrate together like that was and still is very special.''
