Lance Stroll has received a hefty penalty after an offence during the third free practice session for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Aston Martin driver will be put back five spots on the grid and will also receive three penalty points on his licence.
Hefty penalty for Stroll
Stroll was called to the officials by the FIA after the end of FP3 and had to appear before the stewards at 23:15 local time (8:15 Dutch time). There, he was allowed to tell his side of the story about the incident, in which he overtook while double yellow flags were being waved due to Alexander Albon's stalled Williams (and a dislodged tyre).
The stewards ruled anything but lightly on the situation. Stroll will be put back five places on the grid at the start of Sunday's Formula 1 race and may also add no less than three penalty points to his super licence.
