Oscar Piastri has extended his contract at McLaren on an interim basis. The Australian is now fixed with the Woking-based formation until the end of 2026. The previous contract should have been expired at the end of 2024.

Piastri will thus be rewarded for his tremendous development this season. After having to sit on the sidelines for a year as Formula 2 champion last year, he traded the Alpine junior programme for an adventure at McLaren. Alongside teammate Lando Norris, Piastri is making a big impression.

His best result in a Grand Prix is a fourth place at the British Grand Prix. However, he did stand on the podium once during the sprint race at Spa-Francorchamps thanks to a second place behind Max Verstappen.

Lando Norris extended his contract until 2025 in February 2022, so McLaren's driver duo will remain intact at least until the end of 2025.
