The Aston Martin F1 team will be hoping for an excellent result in Singapore. The Marina Bay Street Circuit should suit the AMR23 well. So unlike the Monza race, there is potentially a lot of points to be gained. Especially now that the team will also come up with upgrades.

They are minor upgrades and largely appear to be 'circuit-specific' modifications to the wings, but engineer Tom McCullough has confirmed that it should certainly provide progress. Whereas Alonso had one of his tougher races of the season in Italy and had to settle for a P9, Aston Martin's package seems to be able to get much more out of Singapore's street circuit.

Will Aston Martin strike back again in Singapore?

Although the Aston Martin was a point ahead of Mercedes in terms of top speed, it could not challenge the rival team in Italy. According to McCullough, the issue is efficiency, which was not up to scratch in Italy. Speaking to AS.com, the Aston Martin engineer says he expects more in Singapore: "Singapore is definitely a circuit that suits us better and we have some upgrades coming up. We want to start well at the distant races."

McCullough further explains: "With the current generation of cars, it is possible to have different philosophies regarding the rear wing. Our current car responds better to other spoilers [than the one required at Monza]. Fortunately, there are not so many circuits on the calendar that demand high efficiency. We are, in the meantime, developing the 2024 car in the most efficient way."
