Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff still remains optimistic about the W14 driven by George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. The car seems to be getting more and more like it should be thanks to the updates. However, the Austrian still sees quite a few areas for improvement. He explains where the biggest snags are.

"We believe that we will upgrade in the air, that we will fundamentally change the car. I don't believe so, but we have a few small steps that are to come. And you can see that if you find a tenth, or two or three, it puts you in a different position on the grid. I think if we would have started, if we would have not been stuck behind Leclerc, who knows where we would have been on the medium. But yeah, I think we can do that step," Wolff told reporters after the race.

"I think we are restricted by the cost cap, and by the relative less amount of wind tunnel and CFD time that McLaren was able to have. I didn't want to infer at all that the reasons for performance is more wind tunnel time, I think it's just good engineering, good decisions, put well together on the right track," Wolff said of customer team McLaren's performance.

"We need to design it the right way, to have the right innovation, design it the right way, put it on the car, and cover it with the tunnel and the simulation," Wolff said of the adjustments to the car.
