Between the dunes of Zandvoort, Dutchman Thierry Vermeulen was unable to take his Ferrari to the finish. The talent drove a rather invisible race and could not add any points during the second race. The victory went to Ricardo Feller.

High temperatures plagued man and machine at Zandvoort. With an outside temperature of over 30 degrees, a lot was asked of the cooling systems.

Halfway through the race, Vermeulen had to go in for the second time and this time not for a pit stop. The Verstappen.com driver could not continue with his Ferrari and thus had to abandon his battle. The son of Max Verstappen's manager, Raymond Vermeulen, was driving in 21st place when he saw his race end.

Second retirement

The first DTM race of the weekend at Circuit Zandvoort also ended in a deception for Vermeulen. The driver crashed out about 20 minutes before the end of the race with problems with his steering wheel.

The podium

Victory fell to Ricardo Feller (Audi), who finished ahead of Thomas Preining and Luca Stolz. Marco Wittman held out hope for third place until the last bowl bend, but was unable to get past the German Stolz. For the Swiss Feller, it was his second DTM victory ever.
