Max Verstappen is also the favourite for the Grand Prix in Miami. The Dutchman won the first edition of this race in Florida in 2022. Paul di Resta, who recently stepped down as an analyst with British television, admires the way Verstappen is currently performing.

Until this season, Paul di Resta was an analyst at Sky Sports. Prior to the first Grand Prix, it was revealed that the driver (active in the World Endurance Championship) and the English broadcaster were parting ways. When Di Resta was asked by GPblog whether he himself decided to leave, or whether he was sidelined by Sky, the answer was: 'No comment'.

No doubt in Di Resta's mind

Although Di Resta no longer has a podium on television, he obviously still follows Formula 1. So does Max Verstappen, who once again leads the world championship standings. "You cannot doubt his ability," Di Resta says of the two-time world champion to this website. "What he’s done obviously you have to appreciate what he has done, who he is as a person, where he drives the team forward for sure."

Currently, Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez are the dominant force in Formula 1 with their Red Bulls. No one can match the Austrian team right now. "For sure he will get a tougher time at some point, but at the moment with the package he has he seems unstoppable and he is dealing with it well, so credit to them, they’ve been patient, they are where they are."

In Baku, Charles Leclerc took pole position for both the sprint and main race. They were first signs that the other teams are developing successfully. "But I’m sure the fightback from Mercedes is going to come soon, and I’m sure the likes of Ferrari as well. But it’s still a long way to go in this season for sure, when you see how relaxed they are and what they are achieving, they will take it with both hands on it."
