Yuki Tsunoda has spoken up in Miami on his new teammate Nyck de Vries. The Dutchman is having a tough start in Formula 1, but Tsunoda says this is nothing compared to his debut year.

De Vries had a particularly tough time in Baku. The Dutchman started well with a sixth place in the first and only free practice, but then things went downhill for the AlphaTauri driver. In qualifying, De Vries crashed on his first fast lap and in the main race too, the Dutchman hit the wall, preventing him from continuing his race.

Tsunoda reassures De Vries

Tsunoda spoke up for his new teammate in Miami. The Japanese driver stated that he too was struggling in his debut year and says that there have only been four races this season. "We have only had four races and that is nothing at all. That is nothing compared to my own rookie season, I have struggled a lot more races," Tsunoda told Motorsport.com.

Tsunoda reveals that having a hard time in Formula 1 is not a bad thing at all and argues that it will actually make you better as a driver in the end, although of course it is annoying at the time. The Japanese also indicates that he and De Vries are on the same path when it comes to what they want from the AT04.
