After all teams unanimously agreed on the idea, new braking lights will be added to the Formula One cars in 2019, with two extra lights coming on each side of the rear wing, much like in the World Endurance Championship.

The idea is that cars will be more visible in the rain, especially if a car is driving in someone else's spray, which makes visibility very low.

Motorsport reported that the teams have agreed unanimously to introduce this in 2019, and that the decision will be made official during the next Strategy Group meeting.

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes already tried out an experimental version of the new rear wing, which is pictured in the image above. He tried it at the first in-season testing day after the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. The idea of having braking lights at each end of the rear spoiler has been inspired by the LMP cars in the WEC, which have pretty much the same thing already.
