The FIA informs that a discussion will take place next Tuesday about the time penalty Carlos Sainz received at the Australian Grand Prix. The Spaniard spun around Fernando Alonso during the chaotic final restart and was given a five-second time penalty for doing so.

Sainz started fourth on the last restart and was battling Pierre Gasly on entering turn one. The two were too busy watching each other and both braked too late as a result. Gasly ended up on the grass, but Sainz was unable to avoid his compatriot. Alonso spun and fell all the way back to the back of the field as a result, the Ferrari driver had no damage and was third, but received a time penalty for the incident.

Ferrari asks for Right of Review

Last week, it was announced that Ferrari was going to challenge Sainz's penalty with a so-called right of review. The race 'resumed' after the restart with one lap behind the safety car, which meant Sainz's time penalty had major consequences, he even finished outside the points as a result. In an official document, the FIA revealed that there will be a virtual meeting between Ferrari and the stewards next Tuesday.
