Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson believes his team should be using Ferrari's strong power unit to its full potential in the two upcoming races.

The two upcoming races take place at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza and Ericsson thinks that his Sauber team should be aiming for around double points in both of those races.

Both of these tracks are power-dominated, with Mercedes having an insane record there in recent years.

But now, Ferrari's power unit is now regarded as the highest of standards within the sport and Sauber and Haas have noticeably reaped the benefits as both of the team's form has dramatically improved.

Ericsson believes that Sauber should be making the most of this Ferrari power dominance and must capitalise on it and try to catch up with Toro Rosso.

"I think Spa and Monza can be good tracks for us, it's tracks we like," Ericsson told Motorsport Week.

"We know it's (the engine update) working, we tried it in Hungary, was working fine, means we can use it to the fullest at Spa and Monza.

"For sure, these tracks will be good for us, our target needs to be to score points both weekends, especially what Toro Rosso did in Hungary.

"We were hoping to be ahead of them going into summer and they had a strong score so we need to bounce back at Spa/Monza, they will be good tracks for us and maybe weaker for them."
