Haas to speak with Grosjean after summer break

Haas team boss Gunther Steiner says that he will only speak to Romain Grosjean regarding his future at the team after the summer break has finished.

The American team currently have no drivers signed up for next season, although it is looking highly likely that Kevin Magnussen will re-sign for 2019.

However, there has been questions regarding Grosjean’s future. The French driver has not had his best season in F1 by any stretch of the imagination, although he has improved greatly recently, scoring points in three of the last four races after failing to score in the first eight.

A lot could depend on the future of Force India, with the team currently in administration and waiting for a buyer, Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon could find themselves looking for race seats next year.

Perez has been linked with Haas, and surely that would mean an exit for 32-year old Grosjean.

However, Steiner has refused to reveal anything, telling French publication Auto Hebdo: "I do not want to talk about the future, we will sit down for it after the summer. We have a lot of respect for Romain on the personal level.”

Grosjean left Lotus, where he scored 10 podiums, in 2015 to join Haas in their maiden F1 season, and Steiner feels that Haas should show some loyalty to him.

He added: “Who would have dared to risk three years ago to join our team? He believed in us and the project we started."
