Nico Rosberg spends the days following his F1 career mostly analysing races and drivers. This time he can be found at La Gazzetta, commenting on the developments surrounding Ferrari.

Asked whether he thought it was a smart idea that Mattia Binotto walked away from the team, the German replied that he was not sure. "I know that continuity in Formula 1 is an important value. Mercedes and Red Bull have not changed most of the key people in their teams for a decade or more. And Ferrari lacks that."

Leclerc impresses

He also says Charles Leclerc impressed him last season, but only in qualifying. "In the race not so much. [But,] he remains one of the strongest." In his view, naming a first driver at Ferrari does not make much sense. "That is certainly not the key to the change that is needed. It has to be like in 2022, let them be free," Rosberg said.

The German former world champion thinks Ferrari will be a rival to Red Bull again next year. It is guesswork, of course, because in the past few years the Italian team often went downhill in terms of performance as the season progressed. In any case, it would be pleasing for everyone if both Ferrari and Mercedes can compete next year.
