Fernando Alonso will start a new chapter in Formula 1 next season at the age of 41. Aston Martin appears to be his last team in the motorsport class for the Spaniard. With the formation, Alonso hopes to be successful and then continue there after his career.

The two-time world champion brings a lot of experience to his team. With his past at Minardi, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari and Alpine, Alonso experienced a lot in Formula 1, so he hopes to be important for Aston Martin in the longer term.

The team is ambitious and hopes to drive among the big teams within a few seasons, but there is still a lot of work to do before that. Alonso needs to ensure that the foundations are laid from next race year onwards, so that Aston Martin can benefit in a few years' time.

When Alonso quits in a couple of seasons, he thinks he can be important in other areas as well. "By then I will have something like 25 years of experience, so I can then be very useful for any team," he told Formule1.nl.

"I hope that team will be Aston Martin then. I just want to continue there, whatever we make of it in the next few years." Alonso stressed that he would then want to combine this role with driving in other racing classes, but does not expect this to be a problem.
