Max Verstappen is not a fan of a race weekend with a Sprint. The Dutchman explained why once again at the press conference ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Brazil will host the third and final Sprint race weekend this weekend. Next year, the number of sprint races will be doubled to increase the spectacle in the race weekend. After all, you already have qualifying on Friday, the sprint race on Saturday and the normal race on Sunday.

Verstappen balks at Sprint

''Yeah, honestly, I'm just not a big fan of it because I feel like we don't really race because there are a few points that you get, right, but you also know that you can't really risk it because the main race is where you really get the points. You don't do a pitstop so you just put on the tyre which will last the distance,'' Verstappen said at the press conference.

''With these cars probably the racing is a little bit better but overall you don't really see a lot of overtaking unless there's a car out of position. So then, yeah, it's not really that fun for me. I do like the one practice and then straight into qualifying. I don't mind that because it's less practice for everyone to get fully up to speed.''

In Brazil, there will be points to share for the top eight again on Saturday. Verstappen won the first two sprint races of this season in Imola and Austria. In Brazil, he will hope to repeat that trick, although his main focus will be on winning the race on Sunday.
