Carlos Sainz put together the best lap of his Formula One career to grab his third pole position after tough competition by Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen!

Q1 - Sainz gaps the field

The Ferraris looked strong in Q1, topping the charts with a 1-2. Carlos Sainz led teammate Charles Leclerc by just under half-a-second, flexing the pace of the F1-75. Behind the pair was the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, keeping touch with the Prancing Horses.

Lower down in the field saw some surprises with the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Esteban Ocon, and both Haases being eliminated in the first Qualifying Session. The Wiliams of Alex Albon impressed by just squeezing into Q2, with his teammate Nicholas Latifi setting the slowest time.

Eliminated in Q1:

16th - Kevin Magnussen

17th - Daniel Ricciardo

18th - Esteban Ocon

19 - Mick Schumacher

20 - Nicholas Latifi

Q2 - Leclerc continues Ferrari's strong showing

Charles Leclerc continued Ferrari's strong showing by topping the second Qualifying session. Max Verstappen followed behind in second place, and Carlos Sainz put the second Ferrari into the top-three.

The Alfa Romeos looked strong with both drivers making it into Q3 initially, before Zhou Guanyu's laptime was delete due to a track limit infringement, dropping the Chinese driver to 14th.

Amazingly, Lance Stroll managed to drive his Aston Martin into Q3, beating teammate Vettel convincingly.

Eliminated in Q2:

11th - Alexander Albon

12th - Sebastian Vettel

13th - Pierre Gasly

14th - Zhou Guanyu

15th - Yuki Tsunoda

Q3 - Carlos Sainz grabs second Pole Position!

The Ferrari duo of Leclerc and Sainz set the pace early, grabbing a 1-2 on the times after the first runs in Q3. Lewis Hamilton brought his name to the conversation by putting in a time for P3, leaving the Red Bulls on the backfoot. They'd need to pull out all the stops to grab pole.

In the end it was Carlos Sainz who put in a mega lap to claim only his second-ever Pole Position! Charles Leclerc followed his teammate to grab second, with Max Verstappen grabbing third.

However, after the grid penalties for Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez, it will be Lewis Hamilton lining up in third for tomorrow's race.

Q3 Results:

1st - Carlos Sainz

2nd - Charles Leclerc

3rd - Max Verstappen

4th - Sergio Perez

5th - Lewis Hamilton

6th - George Russell

7th - Lance Stroll

8th - Lando Norris
