Friday morning it became officially clear that Red Bull Racing and Porsche will not be working together from 2026. This might open a door for Honda. The Japanese would regret the decision to quit Formula 1, but a reunion with Red Bull is not a one-two punch. That is what Helmut Marko says on the Monza circuit.

In an interview with Ö3 , Marko states that he is in talks with Honda, but that there is no need for Red Bull to find a partner. Red Bull Powertrains can operate completely independently. "We don't need anyone at the moment, but if it turns out that there are synergies and benefits, then we are open to it," he said.

Red Bull is open to working together, but if no party comes along that is interesting, they will continue to do it themselves. "We are in a good position. We have the fastest driver who is committed to us until 2028. We have Adrian Newey, the best designer. And we have an engine factory that was fully operational within 55 weeks," Marko said.

More options for Red Bull

Honda is not the only candidate to team up with Red Bull. Marko claims that the Austrian racing team has already received several requests from other parties interested in a partnership. The 79-year-old adviser does not mention names, but Red Bull itself is in no hurry to do so. According to Marko, the efficiency of Red Bull Racing must remain in the foreground.

With that, Marko concurs with the words of Christian Horner. The Red Bull team boss said that he would only be willing to cooperate if the companies' DNA matched and if they could agree on a long-term strategy.
