The FIA came out with the news this month that Formula One teams will face new rules to prevent problems with porpoising. Some of them will have to be implemented as early as the current race weekend in Belgium, while the rest will apply to the start of next season. Christian Horner tries not to worry.

This year's new regulations meant that teams suddenly had to deal with the phenomenon of porpoising. While Mercedes and Ferrari, amongst others, continued to suffer from the problem, Red Bull Racing managed to solve it quickly.

The racing teams that continued to experience problems then approached the FIA and raised the issue of safety, which led to weeks of investigations and discussions. Eventually the organisation concluded it had to intervene to prevent worse.

Horner remains cool under circumstances

One of the things the formations will have to do next season is to raise their grid. Whereas the FIA was aiming for 25 millimetres, the figure came to 15 millimetres. Horner tries to remain calm under the circumstances. "My wife often tells me size doesn't matter so I'm not going to be too fussed about 10mm," he told Formula One journalist Adam Cooper, laughing.
