Mattia Binotto has put an excellent car on the grid with Ferrari this season, but it is not yet enough to be in first place. While Max Verstappen leads the world championship, Red Bull Racing is on top in the constructors' championship. However, the team boss remains hopeful that things will soon improve for his team.

The Italian racing team is making a much better impression than in previous seasons. In 2022, Ferrari has a competitive car with which it can compete with Red Bull. Yet, as Binotto also knows, things went wrong in several areas.

"I would love to experience Monaco all over again," he takes in conversation with Sky Sports as an example. "To not win there from the front row is almost unbelievable. It started raining when we were on the grid and everything happened."

Binotto feels good about second half of season

It is not just the 'bad luck' factor that has thrown a spanner in the works on several occasions. The formation made a lot of strategic mistakes, which resulted in Charles Leclerc losing many points unnecessarily in the fight with Verstappen. Binotto wants to focus on the future.

"We could have won five more races, but for some reason it didn't happen. We had some reliability problems, which is a technical issue, but we have to keep working hard and looking forward. We will soon find the reliability we need."
