It was expected, but now it's official: Honda will continue to support Red Bull Racing in the production of its own Red Bull Powertrains engines until the end of 2025. Both parties are happy with the extended cooperation, according to comments from Christian Horner and Helmut Marko, among others.

The cooperation between Honda and Red Bull has been very successful and the departure of the Japanese engine manufacturer after 2021 seemed premature. It soon became clear that Honda would not disappear from the scene entirely and would support Red Bull in the transition to Red Bull Powertrains, but that support appears to be more intensive than first intended. The engines will continue to come from Japan until 2025 and Honda will also continue to provide support to Red Bull Powertrains.

Red Bull reacts to Honda deal extension

Both Marko and Horner expressed their delight at the continuation of the partnership. "We are excited to continue our partnership in F1 until the end of 2025 with the PU supplied by Honda," Marko said in a Red Bull Racing press release. "We have had a successful relationship so far, winning the Drivers’ championship in 2021 and currently leading the Drivers’ and Teams’ classifications, with the aim of securing both 2022 titles."

Horner is also excited about the extension. "Red Bull’s partnership with Honda has been an incredibly successful one and we are pleased that this will continue until the end of the current era of the FIA’s power unit regulations in 2025," said the Red Bull team boss.
