Williams' Lance Stroll has said that there should have been a red flag out during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as there was too much debris on the track and everyone's tyres were getting dangerously cold.

Talking to GPfans, Stroll explained what was going on during the safety car situation in Baku.

"There was so much debris on the track," the Canadian said.

"Turn one, turn three and frankly all over the track, there was debris.

"I would've waved the red flag, but it didn't come.

"Everyone's tyres get so cold that that also becomes dangerous on this track."

Stroll thinks that a red flag instead of a safety car would've been safer, as well as fairer to all the drivers.

"That way, everyone can get new tyres, the debris is gone and we can race safely.

"Last year, practically the same thing happened but there was a red flag back then.

"I didn't get why we didn't do it this time."
