The bad news for Sergio Perez this weekend doesn't just stop. The Red Bull Racing team have now been fined for the Mexican's failure to obey the speed limit in the pit lane.

There is always a strict speed limit in the pit lane. After all, there are a lot of staff around and if a Formula 1 car speeds through it, it can quickly have dramatic consequences. Some drivers are however a little too loose with the rules. We regularly see cars braking hard just before the line.

During the second free practice for the Austrian Grand Prix, Sergio Perez did not manage to slow down enough. The Mexican was caught speeding in the pit lane, 82.1km/h to be precise. The speed limit this weekend is 80 kilometres per hour.

The stewards have therefore decided to impose a fine on the Red Bull Racing team. This could make a big impact on the tight budget this season, but luckily for the team, the penalty is not very high. The fine amounts to 300 euros. This is evident from the official document shared by the FIA.

Challenging sprint race for Perez

A bigger problem for Sergio Perez is his starting position for the sprint race. The driver ran off-track on his final lap in Q2 yesterday, prompting the stewards to scrap his time in Q3 and his final Q2 lap. Perez will therefore start the sprint race Saturday afternoon from P13.
