The Monaco Grand Prix is normally a race weekend for the brave racers, but in wet conditions it really became clear who are among the best drivers in Formula 1. GPblog gave the drivers grades for their performance over the weekend.

Perez: 10

Sergio Perez achieved his finest victory in F1 to date, after a qualifying session that ended with a crash. In the race, however, Perez did everything right and did not succumb to the pressure of Carlos Sainz.

Sainz: 9

Carlos Sainz finished second in Monaco for the second year in a row. On Saturday he was still too slow, but in the race he took control by demanding to be allowed to stay out on full wets. That proved to be a good choice, but Nicholas Latifi threw a spanner in the works for the Spaniard.

Verstappen: 8

Max Verstappen was uncomfortable all weekend. With good in-laps and out-laps, he ensured that he moved up to third place in the race, but it still won't sit right with him that his teammate won the race in Monte Carlo.

Leclerc: 7.5

Charles Leclerc has little to blame. On Saturday, he was supreme in Monaco and clearly took pole. On Sunday, he can only be blamed for driving a slow in-lap towards his pit stop for intermediates. However, the question is whether his team had let him know that he needed to push?

Russell: 8

George Russell is currently carrying Mercedes and through a strong strategy also managed to finish ahead of Norris. It was a nice battle between the two young Brits.

Norris: 8.5

Lando Norris drove a strong qualifying and also a good race. However, Russell's undercut on the hard tyre proved too powerful for the McLaren leader.

Alonso: 7

Fernando Alonso showed again how well he can defend. Hamilton just could not get past him. The Spaniard finally scored good points for his team, after having had a lot of bad luck this season. On Saturday he made a small mistake in qualifying by ending up in the barrier.

Hamilton: 5.5

Lewis Hamilton, like many, was unlucky in qualifying with the red flag, forcing him to start behind Russell again. In the race he had a lot of trouble with the Alpine's which made his race quite boring.

Bottas: 6

Valtteri Bottas achieved another handsome result for Alfa Romeo after it became clear on Saturday that the car was not super suited to the streets of Monaco.

Vettel: 6

Sebastian Vettel took Aston Martin by the hand and showed that their updates do work. Where his teammate was nowhere to be seen, the four-time world champion still picked up another point.

Gasly: 7

Pierre Gasly was unlucky in Q1 and he was unable to set a time. The Frenchman was fast all weekend and showed it on Sunday with some daring overtakes. Gasly showed his class, but it was just not enough for a point.

Ocon: 4.5

Esteban Ocon finished outside the points due to a five-second penalty. The Frenchman slammed the door a bit too hard in a fight with Hamilton and threw away a good result.

Ricciardo: 4

Daniel Ricciardo is coming under further pressure and his performance in Monaco is only fueling the rumors of a departure. In free practice he was in the wall again and after that he never managed to match the pace of Norris.

Stroll: 4.5

Lance Stroll lived up to his name by hitting the wall behind the safety car before the race had even started. It was the start of a long race for the Aston Martin driver.

Latifi: 3

Nicholas Latifi doesn't get the spotlight on him either, because like Stroll, he too found himself with his nose in the wall before the race had even started. When will Nyck de Vries get his next test the Dutchman must be wondering.

Zhou: 4

Guanyu Zhou finished the race, but lacked a lot of speed. In Q1, he was two seconds slower than Bottas. Yes, he was unlucky not to do his last lap, but the track didn't get that much faster.

Tsunoda: 4.5

Yuki Tsunoda fell back at the Monaco GP after a handsome P11 in qualifying. Strategic decisions went wrong and the Japanese driver was also regularly in the run-off lane.

Albon: 4.5

Alexander Albon qualified ahead of his teammate once again, but ended the race in the garage due to mechanical problems. At that point he had already fallen far back, to behind his teammate.

Schumacher: 4

Mick Schumacher's reputation is slowly starting to crumble. In Monaco he was again slower than Kevin Magnussen, but at Haas they are especially not happy about his crash. He was too wide and on the wet part of the track. He's causing his mechanics to work overtime and causing his team's costs to skyrocket.

Magnussen: 5

Kevin Magnussen drove a solid weekend for Haas. He was faster than his younger teammate, but even before his retirement due to a problem with the water pressure in his car, he was outside the points.
