Red Bull Racing's first engine project in Formula 1 is on track, reports team boss Christian Horner. A single-cylinder engine for 2026 will soon be on the test bench, even though the final rules that will take effect then have not yet been determined.

Red Bull Powertrains is already busy developing the engine for 2026. Meanwhile, rumours of a possible collaboration with Porsche are fanning out and the scenario is all but ruled out by Horner.

Speaking to The Race, Horner indicates that Red Bull is on excellent track. "The first single-cylinder engine for 2026 will be running soon," says the Red Bull team boss. At the end of May, Red Bull Powertrains will finally move into its new facility in Milton Keynes, for which they have 'attracted some fantastic talent' according to Horner. "We're pleased with the progress."

Horner stressed that any collaboration with Porsche would not bring about any change in plans. Regardless, he sees the interest from the Volkswagen Group as a positive development. "It's just good news that it sounds like they are making a commitment to come to Formula 1," Horner said.
