Sebastian Vettel has to report to the stewards immediately after the first free practice session in Australia. The Aston Martin driver came to a halt with an engine problem, after which - once everyone was back in the pits - he grabbed the scooter himself and drove across the track back to the pits. The FIA quickly stepped in and want to speak to the German.

Vettel caused the second red flag in FP1, after Sergio Perez lost a piece of carbon fiber earlier in the session, triggering the first red flag. The Aston Martin car came to a stop with a smoking Mercedes engine.

After this, Vettel immediately showed his best again after his comeback by grabbing a fire extinguisher and helping the marshals extinguish his car. At the end of the session, he decided to do the crowd a favour by grabbing a scooter himself and riding it down the track back to the pits. The public was audibly charmed by this, the FIA less so. Vettel will have to report to the stewards because he 'entered the circuit where it is not allowed'.

Aston Martin changes Vettel's power unit

Meanwhile, Aston Martin has announced that it will change Vettel's power unit after the issues in the first free practice.
