This is how long it's been since Ferrari won two races in a row

Ferrari started the season last weekend in a hopeful manner. With Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finishing first and second respectively, the Italian stable finally seems to be back among the top teams. This coming weekend, Ferrari will be looking to take victory again, but how long has it actually been since it won two races in a row?

Mattia Binotto's team has been through a tough period. In 2020, Ferrari failed to get away from the middle of the driver field and experienced a disappointing season. Whereas in 2021 the team managed to improve, during the test days in Barcelona and Bahrain it showed that the top teams had to reckon with Ferrari again.

Last weekend, Leclerc immediately managed to grab pole position and managed to leave reigning world champion Max Verstappen behind. The Red Bull Racing driver was also troubled by Sainz at the end of the race, leaving Ferrari looking to the upcoming races with great confidence.

If Ferrari manages to win at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, it will be the first time in two and a half years that the formation has picked up two wins in a row. Indeed, that last took place in the 2019 season, when Ferrari even managed to take the top prize three times in a row.

At the time, the team consisted of Sebastian Vettel and Leclerc who were both successful just after the summer break. The Monegasque managed to win both the race in Belgium and the race in Italy, while Vettel was successful in Singapore shortly afterwards. In doing so, he ensured that the Italians had no fewer than three victories in hand.

A year and a half before that, Ferrari also managed to grab a double win. At the beginning of 2018, Ferrari was still hoping to compete with Mercedes, which at that time had won no less than five world titles in a row. With Vettel, the Italian stable seemed to have a driver in house who could compete with Lewis Hamilton.

Ferrari started the season very hopeful. Despite the pole position for Hamilton, Vettel managed to take the victory in the opening race in Australia. In the next race in Bahrain, the German then managed to secure the first starting position himself, thus taking his second victory in a row.

Ferrari can continue current form

This weekend in Saudi Arabia, Ferrari has the chance to reinforce its victory in Bahrain. The Italians seem to have a good chance of beating Red Bull again, although it seems all too aware that the competition has not been sitting still in recent days. The race gets underway on Sunday at 18:00.
