Horner rebukes FIA: 'Fans and spectators have the right'

The FIA communicated last month that from now on it will no longer broadcast the radio communication between the teams and race control. Christian Horner thinks this is a bad thing, he tells Motorsport Magazine.

The team bosses sometimes went on a serious rampage against the race committee last season. This happened at the last Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi. After Nicholas Latifi drove hard into the wall, Michael Masi decided to bring in the safety car one lap before the end. It ensured that Max Verstappen still had the opportunity to overtake Lewis Hamilton.

Not only that action caused a lot of discussion within Formula 1 in the last two months, the anger of the team bosses was also a topic of discussion. The FIA therefore decided to limit the communication between the race control and teams from now on. Moreover, in the future viewers should be able to see less of what is happening behind the scenes.

Horner contradicts FIA decision

Although Horner is in favor of less communication between the two parties, he does believe that fans should continue to see everything. "I think it’s something that should still be open to the public because the fans and spectators have a right to hear what is being lobbied. It is a part of the sport," he revealed in the interview.
