Gasly can't wait for the new season: 'Satisfied with our work'

AlphaTauri presented the new car at 11:00 UK time on 14 February. Pierre Gasly talks enthusiastically about the new season, and the driver can't wait to leave for Barcelona for the first test days.

Gasly had a fine season in 2021 with several strong results. The Frenchman showed that he is still a great talent in Formula 1 despite his disappointing time at the Red Bull Racing team. In the new season, he would like to continue his strong form.

"This year sees a huge change to the car as, due to the new regulations, the look and design is completely different, so the team has had to start from a clean sheet of paper. We won’t know the true performance of the AT03 until we get it out on track at pre-season testing in Barcelona but so far, I think it looks great and I am very excited to get this new season started" Gasly revealed in an official press release from AlphaTauri.

2022 a big challenge

The AlphaTauri driver is once again hoping for a strong season, where he can show other teams what he has to offer. "It’s a fresh start for all the teams, starting pretty much from zero as we are really looking at a clean sheet of paper scenario. It will be a big challenge for the teams to work out how to build the best car possible to comply with the new regulations.

"I hope that it works really well for us. I have no doubts about our team’s abilities and, as of now, they are quite pleased with the work they have done. Like everyone, they’ve been working on it for many months now, but it’s difficult to have an idea of what we can expect until the car goes out on track in Barcelona for the first time. Then we will get an idea of how the car behaves and how we look compared to the others. I’m sure this season will be full of surprises", he concluded.
