Alonso surprises Formula One fans: 'He wore a mask'

Kimi Raikkonen experienced his last season in Formula 1 in 2021. The Finn said goodbye to Alfa Romeo, where he drove in recent years and is preparing for a life outside the motorsport class. Fernando Alonso regrets his departure.

The Spaniard, with his age, has also been around in Formula 1 for years, so he knows what the sport is all about. According to Alonso, Raikkonen, like himself, had to get used to the sport in the early stages, but by now had gained enough experience to show himself behind the scenes.

Alonso enjoyed experiences with Raikkonen

Raikkonen, who took the world championship with Ferrari in 2007, is known as a cool-headed person who does not immediately enjoy his many texts in front of journalists. According to Alonso, however, that is a different story when people encounter him off the track. The Finnish driver is said to be a very pleasant person.

"Kimi wore a mask," Alonso explains in the Beyond the Grid podcast. "To some people, he may have seemed cool or taciturn, but there was always a very different person lurking inside him, not at all the 'Iceman'. On the contrary, Raikkonen is a warm-hearted person, but it's probably true that you can only get to know the real Kimi off the track."
