The title fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went beyond the on-track battles. Mercedes and Red Bull Racing also had a rivalry between them and Michael Masi often suffered from it. Toto Wolff demands that the radio traffic stops, especially because of the pressure being applied.

During the races, the team bosses often had contact with the race director, of which the Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia Grand Prix were good examples. In Abu Dhabi, there were especially many conversations between Wolff and Masi, as the Mercedes team boss tried to put pressure on the race director on several occasions. The request not to use a safety car was a good example of this. It is therefore surprising to see that he has now called for this contact to stop.

'Too preoccupied with ourselves'

According to the team boss, he and Christian Horner have overstepped boundaries and the radio traffic should therefore also disappear immediately: "I don't think the team bosses should talk directly to the race director. I would even go a step further, [because] I don't think the team bosses should be pressuring or putting pressure on the race director," he told Soymotor.com.

According to the Austrian, the radio traffic between the FIA and the teams should only be used to point out certain situations to the race control that they might have overlooked. During this season, both teams have abused their power: "We had the chance to talk directly to the race control and because we fought so fiercely in the interests of our teams, we all went too far."
