Red Bull Racing and Mercedes have received an apology from Sky Sports. The English sports channel had to go through the deep end because of a funny intended video it aired last week.

The images were from the British Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen drove hard into the wall at full speed. The Dutchman had to go to hospital as a precaution to get himself treated. When the sports channel broadcast this footage backwards and wished everyone a Merry Christmas, the criticism immediately surfaced.

However, through social media it put out a clear statement. "We have apologised unreservedly to Max, Lewis and the teams for wrongly including footage of two crashes in an on air Christmas ident. This was a clear mistake and the images have been removed."

Decision in World Championship falls in Abu Dhabi

Verstappen and Hamilton will battle for the world title this weekend at the Abu Dhabi circuit. Both men are on an equal number of points in the world championship, meaning they both have enough to win to decide the championship.
