Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert hopes a crash between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton is avoided. The Brit wants to see the drivers fight to the finish line for the world title in Abu Dhabi. That will really determine who is the better of the two.

Verstappen can win with crash

Hamilton and Verstappen are on an equal number of points in the championship going into the final race on the F1 calendar. As the Dutchman has one more win than the Briton, he can become champion if both fail to score points. A crash that sends the Red Bull driver and Mercedes driver both flying out of the race will therefore earn Verstappen his first title, though the stewards will investigate.

So Verstappen and Hamilton are currently tied, and the Sky Sports analyst is hoping from the bottom of his heart that it won't come to a crash in Abu Dhabi. In an interview with Sky Sports Herbert says: ""I want to see the skill of Lewis and Hamilton to be tested"

The most important thing will be the race, according to Herbert. Of course, the Briton thinks significant steps can be taken in qualifying for a perfect weekend, but the race setup is the most important. Herbert thinks that Hamilton and Mercedes are doing better than Verstappen and Red Bull in that area. Therefore, Herbert expects a strong Mercedes but concludes by hoping for a clean and exciting race.
