Alonso again expresses support for Verstappen: "Better than all of us"

Fernando Alonso makes no secret of the fact that he would rather see Max Verstappen win the title than his old rival Lewis Hamilton. Ahead of the final race, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he explains why he thinks Verstappen deserves to be world champion.

Alonso sees a clear reason why Verstappen deserves the championship. "Max has been a level better than all of us all year," the Spaniard explained during the press conference to the likes of Motorsport-Magazin.com.

Verstappen makes the difference at Red Bull

According to him, Verstappen's qualifying lap in Saudi Arabia is a good example of this. "Look at his lap in Jeddah, before he hit the wall at the end of qualifying. That lap came from Max, not Red Bull!"

The Alpine driver sees a stronger Mercedes as a team, but believes Verstappen should be crowned the best driver."Mercedes deserves the constructors' championship, and Max was a step better than everyone else all year," Alonso concludes.
