Lawrence Stroll has been the owner of Racing Point for several years, but recently the billionaire also owns Aston Martin. The British brand was financially grounded and rescued by the Stroll consortium. As a result of the takeover, Racing Point will be known as Aston Martin in Formula 1 from 2021.

Stroll is a good friend of Mercedes and that will become clear once again if these rumours prove to be true. The ties with Mercedes are already close anyway, as Racing Point is already driving the world champion's engines and also uses some Mercedes-manufactured parts. The wind tunnel of the Germans is also used by the team of drivers Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll.

In conversation with RaceFans.net, Aston Martin did not want to comment on the rumor: "We noted recent press speculation. The company confirms that it is reviewing its management team and a further announcement will be made when it's appropriate."
