Williams denies rumors that Oscar Piastri will drive for the team in 2023 and that the British team is switching to Renault engines as part of the deal. Team boss Jost Capito calls it mere speculation.
On Tuesday, a rumor surfaced that Alpine super talent Piastri would drive for Williams in Formula One in 2023 and 2024. The Australian would replace the disappointing Nicholas Latifi at Williams and bring Renault engines directly to the Grove-based team.

Capito denies everything

Although Capito let it be known at the German branch of Sky Sports F1 that Piastri is an interesting driver, he says that there is no truth to the rumors that are circulating. Capito is currently still behind his drivers Alexander Albon and Latifi, but the latter of those two knows that his career is under intense pressure.
Capito also reveals that no deal has been struck with Renault. Williams' current engine contract with Mercedes runs through 2025. However, Mercedes has indicated that it wants to supply fewer teams with engines in the future.
