Sebastian Vettel took a seat in a Red Bull RB7 at the Nordschleiffe for a
Red Bull Racing demo run. In Germany, the four-time
F1 champion chatted to the press about his compatriot
Mick Schumacher, who Vettel believes may be the only German racing talent at the moment.
Schumacher lost his seat in
Formula 1 with
Haas F1 after 2022. The son of the legendary
Michael Schumacher has been without a seat since this year. Vettel took on the role of mentor during the two years the Germans raced together in F1. He therefore does not seem to like the fact that Schumacher is currently on the sidelines.
Vettel calls Schumacher possibly only German racing talent
Speaking to German Sky, Vettel assesses the chances of a return for his young compatriot: "It is a difficult situation. There is maybe only one free seat left. At the moment it is quite difficult to claim it, but the chance is always there." Vettel hopes Schumacher will not give up and still make his return to F1 later.
Vettel: "I think it's important that it continues for him next year, that he keeps working on that possible second chance. From the German perspective, it is essential. He is not only the biggest young talent, he might very well be the only talent at the moment."
