Jos Verstappen had an excellent start of his weekend in the WRC Ypres Rally, but on Saturday he had to stop his race due to a crash. In conversation with Verstappen.com the Dutchman explains what went wrong.
The former Formula One driver finished in 25th place on Friday, so he was looking forward to the rest of the weekend with confidence. Although Verstappen still felt he had to get used to the situation, he expected another strong day. On Saturday, however, things went wrong.
"Nothing special happened on that test. I turned in, I think just too late, so we hit the gravel with the outer wheels and became passengers. There was nothing we could do about it and we slid away, at low speed into a dry ditch. That was it and the day was over," he explains.

Verstappen hopeful for Sunday

"This is a typical Ypres hazard, which also affected us. I still miss that experience," said Verstappen, who hopes his team is able to repair the car quickly. That way he hopes to be able to participate in the rest of the weekend.
