Two-time world champion Max Verstappen is once again one of the favourites for the Formula 1 world title. The Red Bull Racing driver knows that a lot is expected of him and does not mind at all that he has to deal with pressure, he said during the presentation of the RB19.
The 25-year-old Dutchman worked hard for years to put his first world title behind his name. In 2021, he finally succeeded by beating his direct rival Lewis Hamilton in Abu Dhabi. For Verstappen, this was a meaningful moment.
"Once I achieved that, for me a lot of pressure fell off my shoulders," stated Verstappen. "I felt I had achieved everything I wanted in my sporting career. Then it's all about trying to stay there because that's probably even harder than getting there. Last year was a good test to see if we do that."

Verstappen wants to keep growing

After a difficult start, in which Verstappen retired twice, he won the competition comfortably last year against Charles Leclerc. In fact, Verstappen was able to celebrate his second World Championship win a few races before the end of the season, showing another progression.

"I constantly try to improve myself, nobody is perfect. Throughout your whole career, you are always improving and learning from general life experiences but on track, there are always things you can do better. That's what I am always questioning myself, where can I be better and that's what I will try to do this year."
