Sergey Sirotkin drove for Williams but was dropped after just one season. However, Cyril Abiteboul has confirmed the Russian will drive a Formula 1 car later this season for Renault.
Sirotkin will feature in a Pirelli tyre test for the French team. The tyre test will form part of the preparations for the 18-inch tyres. Those 18-inch wheels form part of the rules and regulation shake-up that will hit the sport in 2021.
"The plan is to have Sergey run the tests," Abiteboul told motorsport total.
"He is certainly qualified, he understands the car well and knows the Pirelli tyres. He gives us a lot of feedback so he will run the tests for us."
Sirotkin failed to score a point during his Formula 1 career. He didn't rule out a potential return to Formula 1.
