Clear plan Sainz towards world title: 'Then you can fight'

Carlos Sainz wasn't quite strong enough in the fight for the world title this season. Whereas Max Verstappen won the World Championship, more than 100 points ahead of Charles Leclerc, Sainz finished fifth in the rankings even further back. However, he remains confident in his own abilities, as he stressed in conversation with Autosport.com.
The Spaniard struggled to tap a consistent level at the beginning of the season, losing expensive points in several Grands Prix. Although Sainz managed to make amends, he was unable to catch up with his rivals.
Sainz therefore knows what he has to do in the coming seasons. Namely, if he wants to compete for the world title, he needs to be strong throughout the season. He wants to start doing that in 2023. "My goal is to be consistent," is how he names his own plan.

Ambitious Sainz shows self-confidence

According to the driver, he already showed last calendar year that he is capable of doing this. "I believe that by learning those couple of lessons and going back to being the consistent Carlos of 2021, who I think will finish all the races, you can fight for the world championship."
