Sainz enjoys season: 'At that moment you don't realise it'

Carlos Sainz had to wait a long time, but at Silverstone the driver finally managed to win a Formula 1 victory. The Spaniard is still enjoying his success with Ferrari a few weeks later.

"It's one of the most beautiful things you can experience as a sportsman," Marca quotes Sainz. "At that moment, at 300 kilometres per hour, you don't realise it. But when I saw the picture and then you get out of the car, the whole paddock where you work comes to congratulate you and you see rival drivers. They were very happy for me."

The win only makes Sainz enjoy the motorsport class even more. The Ferrari driver says in the interview that he realises he has responsibilities on the track, but at the same time doesn't forget to enjoy competing in Formula One.

A fortnight ago in Austria Sainz was less lucky. He was well on his way to overtaking Max Verstappen, when suddenly his car caught fire. As a result he was forced to retire. This weekend he hopes to have more luck in France.
