With the departure of
Honda, Renault and
Red Bull Racing may find themselves in a situation where they have to start working together again. This is not ideal for both parties, but Renault do not care about the Alpine strategy.
From 2021 onwards, the Renault team will be known as Alpine. It will become the new brand name of the
Formula 1 team, which hopes to compete for the world title in 2022. However, if Renault has to supply engines to Red Bull again, could that be an obstacle for the development of their own team?
However, there are noises that Red Bull wants to take over the engine from
Honda itself.
''I'm sure there have been a number of test balloons like that. Someone who has to start from scratch in 2022 won't be ready in time, that's perfectly clear,'' Abiteboul concluded.
