Sergio Perez is in the form of his life right now. The Mexican has just signed a new contract with Red Bull Racing and still has his sights on the drivers' championship. The world title is still his ultimate goal in the sport.
Perez has started 2022 strong. The podium finishes continue to pile up, culminating in a win in Monaco. He is currently 21 points behind teammate Max Verstappen in the battle for the world title. That title is the absolute goal for the Mexican in 2022 he says at Sky Sports F1.

Perez goes for the championship

"I just want to do the maximum for myself. I'm in this Championship and I want to win it but, I'm also aware that we have to look after the team," Perez said. The Mexican cites a disagreement between him and the team that took place during the Spanish GP, but after a good conversation, the differences were immediately apparent according to Perez. The race after Spain was Monaco, which he managed to win with a good pit stop strategy.
Perez reveals that he is happy with his recent contract extension which will keep him at Red Bull until 2024. Perez says the combination of fun and winning is great. "I haven't found it anywhere else. That's why I'm very happy with the team."
