Helmut Marko reacted with astonishment to a particular moment during the third free practice in Zandvoort. George Russell and Fernando Alonso both wanted to enter the pit lane, but things almost went terribly wrong for Mercedes and Aston Martin. The Austrian couldn't understand how this could have happened.
Ultimately, Russell and Alonso did not hit each other, but there was a close call for a massive crash between the Mercedes car and the Aston Martin vehicle. In the end, Russell's team was fined for not warning of potential danger on time. Partly due to the layout, the Englishman couldn't do much about not seeing Alonso, according to the FIA stewards, which is why the blame was laid on Mercedes' team.

But thanks to their experience, they were able to save the situation, because this was a hair's breadth from a disaster," the Austrian of Red Bull told Formel1.de
