With Michael Schumacher as his driver, Jean Todt was very successful as team boss at Ferrari. The Frenchman has been the FIA's top man for some time now, but his term is about to expire. With his hands free, a new position undoubtedly beckons - a remarkable move could be in the making.

Return

According to the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Serra Todt is in talks with Ferrari about a return to the iconic brand's Formula 1 team. There would be talks about a role as advisor, similar to the way Niki Lauda worked for Mercedes until his death. This way, he won't have to carry the burden of a CEO, but Todt will be able to share his expertise in the relative lee of the crowd.

FIA Candidates

Todt, who turns 76 next year, recently attended his last Grand Prix in his role as FIA president. The election of a new president will take place on December 17. The candidates to replace Todt are current vice-president Graham Stoker and Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
