By now it is almost impossible to imagine, but even Lewis Hamilton once worked for minimum wage. Speaking to the Australian outlet Fox Sports he spoke about his old job as a bartender, where once he was so drunk after his shift that his father had to come and pick him up.
Hamilton said he is not a fan of pubs and therefore never visits them. The only time he spent there was when he worked there at the age of 17 as a bartender, a job for which he was paid minimum wage. "I think I was getting like, £3.50 an hour or something ridiculous like that," said the Mercedes driver.

Drunk Hamilton had to be picked up

Despite the low pay, he looks back on the period as a "good experience". "The best part of it was when I quit, in my last day and I cleaned up the bar and then I was like, what are these drinks that I've been giving everyone? So I tried everything," Hamilton continued.
Unsurprisingly, the now 38-year-old Briton was unable to get home on his own that night. "My dad had to come pick me up, I was absolutely hammered. I tried a little bit of everything," Hamilton said.
