Hamilton could've ended up in the wall during Verstappen incident

Lewis Hamilton has been reflecting on the incident which saw him investigated by the stewards, admitting he's surprised he was able to control it and that he could've ended up in the wall.

The incident occurred during FP2 of the French Grand Prix weekend when Hamilton made a mistake at turn four hitting a bollard to add to his trouble. After running off the circuit he re-joined at turn five only to see Max Verstappen run off himself. Hamilton was investigated for his rejoining of the track but was not punished.

Hamilton finished second in FP2 whilst Verstappen was down in eighth, but the five-time World Champion had admitted it could've been a lot worse.

"I'm surprised that I caught it. I think if I had gone round I might have gone off into the wall, so I kind of got it under control drifting, and then I had to apply the brake and come off the brake and apply the brake and a little bit of gas to try and keep the balance," Hamilton said as quoted by Motorsport.
