Former Formula One driver Timo Glock has revealed that he has "rarely" seen his friend Sebastian Vettel hurt so much.
The Ferrari driver's season has been dominated by individual mistakes which has ultimately handed the world championship to rival Lewis Hamilton - who is on the brink of his fifth world title.
It looked a huge chance for Vettel to close the gap on Hamilton at the United States Grand Prix, with the Mercedes cars clearly lacking the speed of the Ferraris.
However, Vettel could only managed fourth place in an overall disappointing race and Glock has admitted that it is extremely rare to see his friend this hurt over a result.
"After such a start, when the worst possible scenatio has occurred (Ricciardo collision), he cannot be happy," Glock said. "Especially not given the pace that the Ferrari had, as you could see at Raikkonen. He could have reduced his deficit to Hamilton today. It hurts, you can tell.

"I've rarely seen him like that before he realised for himself that he made a mistake, and the way it happened; it's deep..."
Vettel needs to win the remaining races to have win the world championship off Hamilton - and it all starts at Mexico this weekend.
