Fred Vasseur is very pleased with the weekend Oliver Bearman had. The young Briton had to step into Carlos Sainz' s Ferrari after the Spaniard had to undergo surgery during the race weekend. Vasseur believes that not too much should be looked at just this weekend.
Vasseur gives everyone his views on Bearman's career: "Jeddah is a step, not at the the final target, that he did well this weekend. He will have other challenge in front of him, in the future with the F2."
Of course, the 18-year-old Briton has other responsibilities besides F2: "He will do couple of FP1 with the with us during the season. And you know that all of you and including me that in six months time we won't speak any more about Jeddah, we'll speak about Mexico, Brazil, if he's doing well or not."

On to Australia

It is not yet certain whether Sainz will be fit in time for the Australian GP, which will be run in a fortnight' time. Who will be the reserve driver then? "Olly. We have the F2, it's Olly," said Vasseur who, by Olly, is obviously referring to Bearman.

The team principal has watched Bearman mistake-free performance on his debut with disbelief: "The fact that he did a short weekend without FP1, FP2, without any mistake, for me, it's unrealistic..."
