Ferrari has little left to compete for at the Brazil and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix. With both championships having gone to
Red Bull Racing, there is nothing left but to shift the focus to 2023. Nevertheless, Emerson Fittipaldi expects a strong
Ferrari in the closing stages of the racing year.
"The last two races, Ferrari have the chance to do well," the former Formula One driver explained in conversation with
Vegasinsider.com.
"Especially the Abu Dhabi race as the middle-east is an important market for Ferrari's street cars and they need to win to build up this image again." With rain expected, however, two-time world champion
Max Verstappen seems to have an advantage. The Dutchman has repeatedly proved his ability to tap high levels in wet conditions in recent seasons and is therefore the favourite for victory in Brazil.
Sainz and Leclerc need to show up
Nevertheless, Fittipaldi thinks
Charles Leclerc and
Carlos Sainz will come close to a win. Indeed, both drivers have plenty to prove.
"Both Carlos and Leclerc will be driving very, very hard in the last two races to bring the results for Ferrari," he said.
